How your experience design decision removes barriers
We are excited to invite you to our next closed-door Experience Exchange on Designing Inclusive Experiences with Gareth Ford Williams, Director and Accessibility Consultant at Ab11y.
For anyone managing an Accessibility or Inclusive Design programme, monitoring effectiveness through the impact of design and technical decisions on customers is next to impossible because of the lack of rich quantitative data, issues with GDPR and the diversity and intersectionality of barriers experienced.
For UX design to be inclusive, it’s approach should ensure that barriers are not designed in and that UX and technical decisions do not actively disable people.
Compliance can help by providing a foundation for inclusion but it can not guarantee that everyone has a good or comparative experience.
This talk will focus on how accessibility, product or UX managers can use data to better understand the needs of their audience and evaluate how their design and technical decisions either create or remove barriers.
Join us for this hour as we discuss with Gareth:Â
- Does anyone not have a need?
- Does this blur the boundaries between accessibility and usability?
- What’s wrong with using qualitative methodologies for evaluating design?
- Is using individual user feedback and complaints an effective way of smoke texting UX?

What is a XI Exchange?
An XI Exchange is a periodic virtual meet-up to foster discussion and idea exchange guided by the participants. We want to create a friendly, open environment where experience professionals can periodically exchange experience intelligence (XI) stories and learnings to help each other evolve their programmes to deliver tangible business impact. We only offer limited spaces to these closed-door roundtable events to encourage discussion and sharing of ideas.
