Mark Leiter is Chairman of Leiter & Company. His specialty is strengthening business-to-business (B2B) organizations that deliver sophisticated services and solutions. Mark has helped over 150 organizations create corporate and business-unit strategies that improve performance. He has approached strategy development as an operating executive, strategy consultant, board member and investor.
From 2006 to 2016, Mark worked with Nielsen (NYSE: NLSN), an S&P 500 company, where he ultimately served as Nielsen’s global Chief Strategy Officer. He was part of a leadership team that tripled Nielsen’s enterprise value from $9 billion to $27 billion as the company transitioned from private ownership back to the public markets. Before taking on the role of Chief Strategy Officer, he served in multiple division President roles for the corporation.
Earlier in his career, Mark held multiple Marketing practice leadership roles at McKinsey & Company, including serving as a founder and co-leader of the firm’s B2B marketing and branding practices. He was subsequently a senior partner and worldwide marketing leader at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. He began his career as a charter member of Bain & Company’s loyalty practice.
He currently serves as a board member for The VH1 Save The Music Foundation, as a Trustee of the Committee for Economic Development (CED) and as a member of The Conference Board’s Global Advisory Council and Global Counsellors. Mark is a Partner at Pereg Ventures, a venture capital firm. He is an Advising Member to Strategy 50, a global community of Chief Strategy Officers.
He is the author of the book “Crafting Strategy in an Accelerating World: practical advice from Chief Strategy Officers operating in global, public corporations” (World 50; 2018).
Mark was a research fellow at Harvard Business School, holds an M.A. from Harvard University, and a B.A., summa cum laude, from the State University of New York at Albany.
